Small thought on government consultations

You could, perfectly legally, send in a complete tissue of lies to a government consultation*, and under the current guidelines, it has as much weight as a carefully researched and referenced submission.

For example, say there was a consultation on children and video games. A submission which involved a carefully cross disciplinary review of available scientific literature and related it to issues of free speech and adult’s freedom to choose would have as much weight as “I heard about a boy who kicked his dog after playing tomb raider. Ban this filth.”

*As indeed many would say many organisations regularly do, having seen the submissions on EHE guidelines…
